Organizing in the bathroom:

Here are some great ways to organize your bathroom!

I have such a small bathroom, and it’s awful. Anything that makes my morning more smooth when getting ready would be great! Here are some inspiring things that pinterest has shared with me 🙂

Genius :)- Love this idea. You can put anything in a glass/plastic container for your makeup brushes. Although, I do not have a lot of counter space so this will not be happening until I move. I think cheap beads that you have laying around will work. I also think you can buy a big bag of blingy type beads/ pieces at hobby lobby. Stones that you would usually use in a fish thank would work well too. (Those clear ones)

Under my sink is gross. I have just the regular cabinet bottom that looks old and gross.Sticking cheap peel and stick tile there instead is genius. I actually found a box of it at the dollar store, but home depot and all those home stores have it as well. It’s about a buck a tile, but makes cleaning so much easier! Just wipe it down when it gets dirty. Love this! A must try for me!

This is a perfect idea to hang your tooth brushes. If your like me and don’t have a lot of counter top space this is wonderful. Pick up some magnets at Hobby Lobby or a craft store. Adhere a magnet on the back of your tooth brush, and then connect them to row of magnets that you create. No more tooth brushes laying around your counter! Like this!

I hate hate my straightener laying out on the counter. Not only is it in the way,but its an eye soar. This is great! Use hook-and-loop tape to attach 5-in. lengths of 2-in.- diameter PVC pipe to the vanity door to hold the curling irons. Do the same thing with 3-in. pieces of 1-1/2-in.-diameter pipe to hold the cords. Just measure your curling irons to see how long your “holsters” need to be. Let your curling irons cool before you stow them away.

These shoe organizers are my favorite way to organize. I have never thought of using it in the bathroom. Hang one on the back of your door and put all your bathroom needs in the pockets! It’s awesome for small bathrooms with little to no storage space! (It’s also a great organizer for your cleaning closet! I bought one for my cleaning closet and it does wonders!)

& Last but not least…

This is great! I found the website where to buy the plastic things at (http://www.stickonpods.com/) I haven’t looked around really but maybe you can find them even cheaper some where else? Anyways, I think this a wonderful way to organize your make-up and things. I have the smallest storage ever in my bathroom. Using the cabinet door is wonderful!! Will need to order a few of these soon!

Hope you enjoyed a few ways to mellow out the chaos of your bathroom. I sure can use these tips 🙂

Cream of [Insert Variety Here] Soup

When I saw this I was so excited. (I’m such a dork) But I use cream of mushroom, and cream of chicken in a lot of my recipes! Including a lot in my crock-pot things. So this was so exciting to see. I’m making my batch tomorrow!!

Saw this on: http://dancesdishesanddreams.blogspot.com/2011/09/cream-of-insert-variety-here-soup.html

She is a genious for coming up with this! I will let you know how it goes when I make mine!

What you need:

2 Cups nonfat dry milk powder

3/4 Cup cornstarch

2 Tbsp. dried onion

1/2 tsp. ground black pepper

1/4 Cup chicken bouillon powder/granules

1 tsp. basil

1/4 tsp. thyme

1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Place all in container (air tight) and shake up!

To use:

Combine 1/3 cup of dry mix with 1 1/4 cups of water in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat and stir until thickened.

She said for convience she labled her container with a sharpie, and put it one of those lock and seal containers. (love those!)

Although this may take a bit longer than just opening up a can of of it, I bet it taste way better! Also the convience of always having it on hand will be handy! I especially like how affordable it is to make! WOO HOO for cream of whatever mix! Love this.

Brown Bag Counter Tops!

Brown Bag Counter Tops

No really! Haha. I sent this to my mom one night and she called me right away and was instantly hooked. Found this while browsing on pinterest of course. 🙂
It’s quite simple. You hate your counter tops but think it will be a fortune to re-do. WRONG!
Read on and see… 🙂
What you will need:

  • A roll of contractor brown paper ( Found it @ Lowes near paint supplies for like 10 bucks)
  • Elmer’s Glue (got a gallon at Lowes for 10 something)
  • Sand paper (if you need it! if you already have a flat surface with no holes you will not need this)
  • A bucket for mixing. (Used a butter dish but a bigger container may be easier- such as a paint tray)
  • Something to stir with. (As you can see a butter knife worked fine- it’s elmers glue it comes off so easy)
  • Stain of your choice. (Mom used regular stain that you buy at wal mart)
Start off my sanding the surface. (if you need to) Next, start tearing the brown paper into 4×6 pieces. Just guesstimate this, because it does not need to be uniformed in any way, and you want the paper to look torn. This is what they look like:
Once you have a pretty good pile going you want to crumble them up. It looks better no more crumbled up they are. Like this:
Mya was our helper :)- After you crumble up the paper and get them in a pile you want to make the solution. You want 1 part glue to 2 parts water.
Again, elmers glue comes right off so gloves and worrying about ruining something is not necessary.
Mix it up 🙂
Once you have it all mixed up you can start putting crumbled paper into the mixture.
Just squeeze out the excess glue and start placing them randomly on your surface. You will cover the surface just like you would a collage. The papers will overlap each other. This is the look you want. Once you run out of paper just tear some more up and make more mixture if you have to. Repeat this until your surface is covered…
Then let is dry over night!
Once it is dried over night you will then add your stain.
You will want something like this, but pick your own color.
( I do not have any step by step photos for this step because I was not there when mom was doing this, but just use a paint brush and stain as if your were painting your counter tops. Make sure to get a even coat through out the whole surface)
This is half stained half not. Major difference.
Once your stain is dry it is time to add a seal.
My parents found a sealant like this below at Lowe’s. (Not sure on the price)
They had to do 2 coats of this.
Once this is dry you will have nice new shinny counter tops!
Amazing huh?

AFTER:
My mom is very pleased!
Let me know if you try this!
